Purpose: We talk a lot about the steep learning curve in a new role. But we rarely talk about the steeper unlearning curve.
This page is designed to help you reflect on and navigate the unlearning process during your first 90 days (and beyond) in a new role. Whether you're stepping into leadership, changing environments, or shifting your mindset, unlearning is just as important as learning. Use this space to intentionally identify what no longer serves you, adopt new ways of thinking, and build a clear, supportive plan to grow with confidence.

🔥 Unlearning isn’t instant. Unlike learning, it involves breaking old habits and assumptions—expect it to take longer.
🔥Awareness is the First Step.
Recognize where you need to change, which old ways need to go, and prepare for the process.
🔥 People May Expect You to “Unlearn” Fast.
If you have a plan, others may assume you’ll adapt immediately. Remind yourself (and them!) that it’s a journey - often 2 steps foward one step back.
Here’s how I approach it:
🗣️ Weekly Self-Reflections - Regular check-ins with myself to identify areas to unlearn.
🗣️ Feedback from 1:1s and My Team - These discussions provide real insights and build accountability.
🗣️Formal 90-Day Feedback Process - If your company doesn’t have one, consider creating a simple Google Form to get feedback. I did this it kind of worked so - so but gave me enough insight. 🗣️Another great time to build the plan is after a performance review. Sometimes it’s less about adding something new into perform. It’s often about subtracting something.
🔥TIP: Unlearning is hard. It’s better to choose few iterms 1 - 3. Less is more and work on one consciously at a time.

| Being Too Cautious in Healthy Conflict*** | Avoiding conflict or withholding feedback to maintain harmony. | Understand that constructive conflict fosters innovation and better ideas. Encourage respectful debate to improve outcomes. | *- Reflect on times I held back feedback in the first 90 days. |
